What timber is best for an outdoor privacy screen in KZN?
For coastal areas, Balau or composite is the best choice — both handle salt air extremely well. Inland, treated pine or Garapa give excellent results at a lower cost.
How far apart should slats be on a privacy screen?
It depends on the level of privacy needed and the viewing angle. For complete privacy when viewed straight-on, slats with no gap work best. For filtered light and partial privacy, 10–20 mm gaps between slats are popular. We'll advise based on your specific situation.
Can you add a privacy screen to an existing deck?
Yes — this is very common. We can fix screen posts to the existing deck frame and install the screen panels without any major modification to the deck structure.
