Composite decking boards are manufactured from a blend of wood fibre and recycled HDPE plastic, co-extruded with a protective cap layer that resists UV fading, moisture absorption, staining and surface mould. The result is a board that looks like real timber but requires none of timber's ongoing maintenance.

Is composite decking worth it in KZN?
Yes — especially in coastal suburbs. Salt air accelerates degradation of natural timber finishes, meaning you'd reseal a hardwood deck every 1–2 years at the coast. Composite requires none of that, making the lifetime cost often lower than timber despite a higher upfront price.
How hot does composite decking get in summer?
Composite boards can get warm in direct sun, similar to natural timber. We recommend lighter colours for south-facing pool areas in KZN. Most premium brands include heat-management technology that significantly reduces surface temperature compared to older-generation composites.
Can composite decking be used around a pool?
Absolutely — it's one of the best pool deck materials available. Composite boards don't splinter, don't absorb water, and many profiles have a brushed or grooved surface that provides excellent wet-foot grip.
Does composite decking look like real wood?
